Intohealth: A Healthy Communities Partnership is a group of individuals and organizations working together to prevent chronic diseases in the City of Toronto. As part of the Ontario Heart Health Program since 1998 and now funded by the Ministry of Health Promotion, Intohealth has undertaken activities that promote healthy eating, physical activity, and smoke-free living. Many changes are occurring as Intohealth aligns its focus to reflect the newly announced Healthy Communities Ontario approach. Intohealth will build on its’ strong community partnership approach, as it identifies and plans health promotion and public policy priorities for Toronto’s future. Current partners and additional key stakeholders in community health will be engaged in a comprehensive community assessment process not only focussing on priorities addressing healthy eating, physical activity and tobacco use/exposure but also injury prevention, substance and alcohol misuse and mental health.
